Manos Negras is born from the friendship of an American Wine Educator, and Argentine viticulturist and two Kiwi winemakers, all with extensive international experience and a no-nonsense, hardnosed work ethic.
TintoNegro was born of the long time friendship and professional collaboration of Alejandro Sejanovich and Jeff Mausbach, colleagues at Bodega Catena Zapata for almost 15 years.
As Wine Education Director for Catena, Jeff travelled the world preaching the gospel of the unique character of high altitude Malbec from Mendoza, explaining the character and expression of its many different terroirs.
As Vineyard Director at Catena, Alejandro had extensive, first hand experience growing Malbec in all of these terroirs, from the fruit driven, easy drinking style of Lujan de Cuyo to the concentrated, complex profile La Consulta. His intimate knowledge of the top vineyards in each region means TintoNegro wines are made from only the best fruit each area has to offer.
Dominio Del Plata - Susana Balbo Wines
In 1999, after working more than 20 years as a consultant winemaker for national and international wine companies, Susana decided to have her dream come true and started to build Susana Balbo Wines in the heart of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. After more than 10 years of steady growth in foreign markets, another one of her dreams was fulfilled: her children, José, winemaker graduated from UC Davis (California) and Ana, Bachelor of Business Administration from University San Andrés (Buenos Aires) decided to go on with the family tradition and join Susana Balbo Wines team.
During the last years, Susana and her team have been working tirelessly on meeting the international highest quality standards and have showed their commitment to some of the major issues of the 21st century: food safety, environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
The Arizu family has a strong European legacy that dates back to the XVIII century, to the small village of Unzue in the Basque country.
In 1890, Leoncio Arizu arrived in Argentina searching for new opportunities, and in 1901 he founded the Winery in the province of Mendoza. Then he and the Boscas, another old and prosperous family that had emigrated from the Piamonte region in Italy, decided to join efforts and founded what is today Bodega Luigi Bosca – Arizu Family.
After 114 years, Leoncio Arizu’s legacy is still in the hands of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who honor the tradition of producing great wines.
The Arizu Family has played a leading role in major changes in the local wine producing industry. In 1989, the firm had an active participation in the foundation of the first Argentine C.D.O., the “Lujan de Cuyo” Controlled Denomination of Origin (C.D.O.). the PDO.
